From July 11th to 18th, 2024, the China-USA Volleyball Cultural Exchange Event, co-hosted by Yilusen Company of the United States and Fujian Normal University (FNU), took place in Fuzhou. The event saw the participation of several prominent figures, including Justin Fuller, President of Yilusen Company; Chen Guoquan, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Fujian Province; and Chen Zhonghe, former head coach of the Chinese women’s volleyball team and former Deputy Director of the Administration of Sport of Fujian Province. Other notable attendees included Wei Shaojun, Vice President of Yilusen Company for the China region; Zhang Weili, Director of the Foreign Cooperation Office of the Education Department of Fujian Province; Wang Changping, President of FNU; Chen Qinghua, Vice President of FNU; and heads of relevant departments.
From July 13th to 16th, the China-USA Volleyball Friendly Match was held at the Comprehensive Gymnasium on FNU's Cangshan Campus. The event featured six teams: the Nighthawk Team, the FNU Team, the Soaring Team, the Fujian Province Youth Men's Volleyball Team One, the Fujian Province Youth Men's Volleyball Team Two, and the Jimei University Men's Volleyball Team, comprising a total of 72 players. The matches showcased the players' excellent skills, sportsmanship, vitality, agility, and teamwork. Their performances not only highlighted distinctive styles and achieved notable results but also fostered friendship, earning cheers and applause from the spectators.
On the morning of July 16th, Chen Zhonghe attended the China-USA Volleyball Cultural Exchange Salon at Hongda Hall, Qishan Campus of FNU. Drawing on his own growth and coaching experience, Chen shared the arduous journey and championship triumphs of the Chinese Women’s Volleyball Team with the players. He explained the profound connotation and contemporary significance of the "Chinese Women's Volleyball Team" spirit. Moreover, he encouraged the players to inherit and promote the new era Chinese Women’s Volleyball Spirit, characterized by "putting the motherland first, unity and cooperation, tenacity, and never giving up," to refine their skills and tactics, and to achieve greater heights, contributing to the popularization and advancement of volleyball.
Additionally, the event featured a "Champion's Class" conducted by Hou Chundi, national youth men's volleyball coach, and Xu Yunli, women's volleyball Olympic champion. They provided in-depth instruction on volleyball techniques and tactics through group drills, fun games, and offensive-defensive exercises, engaging the players in an immersive learning experience.
During the intermissions of the matches, the USA volleyball players visited notable scenic spots in Fuzhou such as Kuliang, Xichan Temple, and the Minjiang River, and participated in a study tour themed "Refreshing Fujian."
